Christmas and December

The kids and I flew to Utah, while Chris stayed for a few more days for work. We enjoyed flying on the airplane. I enjoyed going to the Jazz game with my Dad, even though they lost by 2. The kids definitely loved playing in the snow. Peyton said, “This is the BEST snow ever!” The funny thing was that there was hardly any snow left and it was yucky and melting, but he hardly ever sees snow, so he still thought it was the best. So cute! We had a fun time building a snowman, playing, and hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. We liked going to Temple Square to see the lights, but Kylie and Peyton were more curious about the snow and holding the snow than seeing the lights.

Later Chris drove up and met up with us and we went to his families house. His whole family was there for his brother, Brandon’s wedding, so it was nice. All the adults went to a temple session for his other brother, Cody, going through for his first time for his mission (by the way, he got called to Guatemala). His sister, Megan, watched all 7 grandkids and they all survived. We had family pictures, family party, playing with all the cousins, and Brandon’s wedding. It was a packed weekend, but nice to spend it together.

I love how Peyton loves his new jammies. He cuddles up to us and things like this, I love it!
Me and Kylie...

Porter turned 1-year-old. We were at Chris' brother, Brandon’s wedding all day, so after the busy day, we were able to give him a cake, and he loved it! We opened up some presents later when we got home, which Kylie and Peyton were way more interested in than he was. Porter sure is growing up, likes to play with his cars, says words like, “Mama, Dada, Jesus, What’s that, vroom,” and still loves smiling and laughing. In fact, he thinks it is super funny when he toots, tries to toot some more, and continues laughing because of that.

Porter loved his cake...

I snuck this outfit on Porter to see what Chris would say when he got home. Chris said, "Get that thing off!"
LOVE this picture!!!

We had a great Christmastime. Christmas Eve we made sugar cookies for Santa, played the Nativity Scene, read Christmas stories, sang some songs, and got super excited for Santa to come. Sure enough, when we woke up he had come to our house because we had been good girls and boys all year. Kylie was excited to open her Gabriella Barbie that Santa brought, and happy to see that Troy came with it even though she didn’t ask for that. Peyton loved his Transformer mask and costume from Santa. Porter didn’t care too much that Santa brought him new sippy cups, but still was smiling all day. The kids have enjoyed their new presents, clothes, toys, and especially games. They love playing Spiderman Yahtzee, Sequence for Kids, and Book of Mormon Bingo. We had a nice time just being together as a family, that was the best part (and seeing the kids open their presents, that is always so fun!).

All dressed up for the Nativity Scene. Kylie wanted to be Mary, Peyton wanted to be Joseph, and they made me the angel, Chris a wiseman, and Porter as Baby Jesus...

Peyton loves the new gloves that Chris and I gave him...(and notice there are 2, so he can share with Kylie and later Porter with no fighting) ;)

Porter loved Christmas and much as he can. He was all smiles!

Silly faces from us all. Love how Porter is looking like an elf...

The Orchard

Last Saturday we went to an orchard here in Vegas. Kylie and Peyton loved picking apples. They just kept picking and picking. Finally after a loadful we had to make them stop. We walked around looking for more things. We got to find our perfect pumpkins (although it is slim pickings because we live in a desert!). Kylie found hers right off. Peyton on the other hand took forever. This stem is "too crooked," "too tall," "too yucky," "too small," etc. And he carried around a "booming stick" to boom us wherever we were. We had a great time!

Then the kids got to eat their fresh apples. They loved that! And we drank some fresh apple cider! So yummy!

After the orchard we found a really cool park. It had dinosaurs, flowers, ladybugs, everything a kid would imagine. So cute! We will have to go back there again.

Porter's Sleepy Time

Some of you know that we have been trying the "cry it out" method with Porter. It is sort of working. This kid is a bit stubborn though, and just cries and cries and cries. But for the most part, he is doing well. This morning nap he had finally fallen asleep and then later it was time to pick up Kylie from school. So I had to wake him up (which I hate having to do). He didn't wake up when I went in the room, so I thought this is my chance to get a sleeping picture. These pictures are so cute and precious. He is sucking his thumb, which we never really have seen him do. So cute! Love you Porter!!!

Kylie

My 5-year-old!

July 2009...

December 2007...

January 2008...

Happy Birthday to my sweet little Kylie who turned 5 years old today. I remember this day well 5 years ago and the weeks following. It was really hard to watch her struggle in Primary Children's and to recover myself there, too. But I honestly think what she went through made her stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually. Love you tons Kylie and thanks for being my "Punkin Bunny!"
