DMV

Can I just tell you that I hate the DMV!!! I had to go there today to get our car registered in Nevada and get me a new Nevada drivers license. I know, don't tell anybody. You are supposed to do that within 30 days of moving, but I'll take 6 months. Good thing I never got the fine. Anyways, they make you take a BUNDLE of things. Chris got home early from work to watch the kids so I could go. I waited in line....forever....then they told me I didn't have my Marriage Certificate so I had to drive ALL the way home to get it. Marriage certificate? What?! After grabbing multiple items not knowing if I would need them, just to make sure I wouldn't have to come back again, I headed out for the DMV AGAIN! Then, they gave me some bogus number...well, not really bogus, but I had to wait in line FOREVER!!! I felt like it was bogus because people who sat down after me were called up before me. Hmm? Finally got the paper stuff done, got my picture taken, got the plates and license and it's all done. BUT, it only took 4 hours. I think that's a new record. :)

Sounds like TN's DMV. When we went we went separately because we were told it would take forever. It took Joe 4 hours and me 2 1/2. What an adventure just waiting in line doing absolutely nothing huh!! Fun stuff!

All I can say is I hate the DMV, too. What a pain.... I wish I could forever avoid that place. :o)

Sounds like fun!!! I've sat in those lines with my bogus number too - what a pain. Although to make you a little jealous, last week I had to go to the DMV to renew Nathan's handicapped tag. Anyway, I walked in, they gave me a number, and before I could even sit down they called me up. It took maybe 10 minutes! I guess that means next time I'll be there forever.

I have not changed my stuff to Washington yet. I waited so long to get my Cali Driver's License that I took the test 2 months before we left, so I don't want to take another one. Besides... Ben might transfer schools in the fall,so I can still play the "school" card to local police. :)

Just for the record....this is EXACTLY why I still have a Utah drivers license that says HEATHER HANSEN on it still! Yes, I know I am terrible but I don't want to face the DMV....or a new picture......I hope I don't get in trouble......

The exact same thing happened to me in LA! Make sure you change voter registration too. We changed ours through the DMV (a change of address after moving to our second apt.), went to vote during the primaries, and we weren't on the list! They told us the DMV hardly ever follows through with voter registration and to go to the post office instead. We'll blame the DMV that Romney didn't get our vote--I'm sure my vote would have changed the outcome! :)
