I'm finally posting about our spontaneous trip to Disneyland a couple of weeks ago. Chris' brother, Cory, went to Disneyland with his family and the special at the time was buy 3 days, get 2 days free. They could only go for 3 days, so we got to go the 2 days for free. We were so excited! It was so fun! The kids and us love Disneyland. Although it was very busy and crowded, we had a great trip.
We got there after a long ride (well, from Vegas) because of lots of traffic and screaming baby. Took twice the time it normally takes. Anyways, on Monday we went to California Adventure (just was about to write Disneyland Adventure...that's what Kylie calls it) because we had never been there before. It was fun. I think we were expecting a little bit more. It was still cool but didn't have all the mickey stuff and princesses like disneyland does. Anyways, the first ride we went on was Soarin'. Peyton, Kylie, and I went. In the middle of it Peyton said he wanted to go see Dad. I just told him to close his eyes...wasn't sure if he was gonna throw up or something. But it's a cool ride. My favorite adult ride was California Screamin'. And my favorite kid thing there was Playhouse Disney Live on Stage. Way fun for the kids. Did the whole day thing, even headed over to Disneyland to ride Buzz Lightyear...that's what Peyton had been wanting to do the whole time. And we did a few other things.
Tuesday was all Disneyland. We couldn't believe it, but 4 of the rides broke down on us. Yes, 4! On 2 or 3 of them we were about 5 people away from the front of the line and it broke down. Argh! Luckily later in the day most of them worked. We spent the majority of the time in Fantasyland and Toon Town, which was just fine. This trip helped us know what to do and what not to do for in August when my whole family is going together. The kids DO NOT like any of the story rides. Anything that rides inside or in the dark or anything like that. So, no waiting in line for Peter Pan, Roger Rabbit, Pinnochio, and all that stuff. Phew! They DO like Dumbo, Teacups, the Rockets, and those kind of rides. They got autograph books for the characters to sign. They got some, and we'll try to get more in August. Kylie just loves that book. She looks at it over and over again...just how she looks at her 3 year old birthday cards over and over. :) We know the first thing we are going to do in August...head straight for the princess lines. It was over a 2hour wait, so we didn't do it, but we will next time, since we will be there first. Porter did great, too. At the end he was just completely exhausted and couldn't stop crying though. Poor kid. He did great though. And I got over my fear of nursing in front of people. Yep, I nursed (with the cover of course) in front of hundreds of people. Yes, hundreds. Anyways, we sure had a great time and were so thankful that we could go. It was so fun. We've always wanted to do a quick spur of the moment vacation and this was it! And the best part was was we were in Disneyland and returned home to our own beds the same day! The trip home was much better. Well, Porter did scream SCREAM for the first 1 hour. Then complete silence and sleeping from all the kids the rest of the way home. It took us 3-4 hours to get home. Such a fun trip. Thanks Cory and Candice for the tickets!
Here's LOTS of photos from the trip.
Waiting in the Buzz Lightyear line. Porter wasn't happy then...
Chris and Peyton riding Buzz Lightyear. One of my favorite pictures. I love how Chris is concerned about helping his son. Sarcasm. :) However, after the ride Chris did tell me that he beat his previous score from another year. Oh boy. What?! You remembered it. Let's say competitive.
My other favorite picture. All happy ears...
Us at our hotel...
A trip wouldn't be complete without an asleep picture. I love how Peyton is all over Kylie and she doesn't even notice or care...

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, glad you could go!
Just a little FYI for August: There is a nursing lounge at the end of Main Street before Tomorrowland. I've never been there, but my friend told me it was a good place to go because not very many people know about it, and it is kept clean. Good place to change diapers. Anyway, I think it's called Baby Center, and is across from The Plaza Inn near the First Aid.
So fun!! Wow, you lucked out with the free tickets. You definately have to know what and how to do disneyland. Last time we went the rides kept breaking too, that is such a bummer! I want to go so bad! Hopefully in December. Have fun in August!!
Disneyland is fun but a lot of work with kids. Way to go! And yes, the nursing thing can be tough. Jen mentioned a nursing lounge and it's awesome! I was in there at least three times a day when we went in January. It's private, quiet and that way you don't have to be out in public. You look great and your kids are super cute!
BTW...email me about the 24th of July 10K! Or call...whatever is easier.
great pictures guys!!!
Glad you guys had fun, you got some GREAT pictures - love the one with the three kids and the mickey ears!
