Pictures of our house

I promised some pictures to some of you. So, here are a few, well, a lot of, pictures of our house. It's boring to show just the room, so I made Kylie and Peyton get in each picture. They liked that.

The play room. I was so glad to have a room to make just for toys. The kids love it. This room connects to a balcony where the kids ABSOLUTELY love playing. They go out there by themselves and play "camping," or whatever else they have in mind that day. They enjoy it!

And, last, but not least, a picture of just the kids. They wanted a cute picture together. :)

We like our house and are glad things worked out. Right now, I am a little bummed trying to figure out where things are and I am missing all the parks everywhere where we used to live (since we go there all year round...seriously!!!). We were just spoiled with the tremendous parks and how huge and nice they are, but we will find ours, too. Just takes time, huh?! Okay, now I need some serious advice with decorating tips. What should I do? How do I do it? I would like some help, please. Thanks for reading this all!!!

We're in!!!

This move was really exhausting. Even though we complained a lot about our last move, we had it easy, I think. But this time it was just hard. It seems like we have a ton of stuff, but it's all stuff we need...really. :) I'm just glad to have normal food around the house, now, too. It wasn't very fun trying to make meals with little food so you don't have to move as much, eating with no time, and being tired. So, I am glad we will have normal meals now...it's crazy how food can lift you up or bring you down. But.....

We are finally in our new house! Tired, but in! 3 of our friends came on last Tuesday night (the 20th) and helped Chris move some of the big things...basically took a whole load. (We rented a Uhaul). Then the Elders Quorum came on Wednesday night (I know, American Idol Finale Night, but somehow we recorded it and watched it later) and helped us then. However, only 2 of them came to the actual house to help unload so that took awhile. We realized that not everything fit STILL and Chris had to go back to the house for a last load all by himself around 10pm. I went and picked up the kids at a neighbors house and got them to bed. Tuesday night they went to bed at 10pm. Wednesday they got to bed at 11pm--but were so excited to be in their new rooms. Chris brought the last load by himself at 12:30am. I helped him unload it. Then we had to take the Uhaul back, so as scary as this sounds, it was the only thing we could have done. We put one of our phones on speaker phone in between the 2 kids bedrooms and left them in the house so we could take the truck back (Chris needed a way home so I needed to go too). I held the phone the entire time listening, but luckily none of them made a sound. So...........we finally got to bed around 2:30-3:00am. Peyton so happily woke up at 6:45am. Bummer. That night was hard, too, because we woke up a lot of times for different reasons. One being that Kylie kept falling off her bed. We fixed that problem the next morning and put her bed next to the wall...we didn't realize that it wasn't before. It also was a bummer that Peyton woke up so early because he has been such a sleeper lately. He has been going to bed at 7:30pm and waking up at 8:30-9am or so. Then takes a 3 hour nap. We don't know where that came from all of a sudden, but we'll take that ANY day.

Anyways, so that (Thursday) morning Kylie HAD to go to dance class. We had to leave here by 9am. After dance class I went with the kids to our old house and cleaned cleaned cleaned. Then finally went home afterwards and got a nap. It has been a long couple days, but we are finally in. We have even taken it slow, but realized we are 3/4ths of the way through our boxes. We are so glad that Chris had a long weekend away from work...and he was, too to not have to do SO much all at once. We are glad we are here and love our new house. I'll send pictures when I have more time. :)

Another run

This run was huge!!! There were so many people there. It was the Susan G. Koman, Race for the Cure. Just for the timed 5K, there were 8500 people. I finished 17th of the whole women. It seems when there is a ton of people, you seem to get a better time because all the adrenaline. I did good, but my stomach was hurting the whole time, so I knew I could have even done better. I know, I'm competitive. The last minute some women caught up to me and passed me, and that bums me out because I usually kick it in that last bit. But, I had a great time, and now, of course, want to beat my time again.

Chris' Dad

This past weekend, Chris' dad, Brad, was visiting some property he owns in northern Nevada. He was on his farm with his friend and he was riding his 4-wheeler, going about 40 mph. It hit a deep hole and he fell off and it trampled over him. He was in the middle of nowhere, so it is truly difficult to get help. His friend, who happened to be the bishop, gave him a blessing then went to go look for help...which he happened to run into somebody on the road...which never happens. After laying there in pain for 3 hours the ambulence got him and took him to a small first aid place. In the middle of the night they flew him over to Las Vegas to get real help in a hospital. So, we were able to see him. He broke 6 ribs, his leg, and totally ruined his ankle. They had to do surgery on him and put pins in his ankle. So, he is in pain, but he was able to go home Sunday night. Michele, Cody, and Megan came up to see him, too. So, it was a visit which you hope doesn't come that way, but we were still glad to see everybody, and be able to help Brad. So keep him in your prayers!

His family had to let Brad rest and sleep and couldn't stay in the half room all day, so we went out to dinner with everybody (even though we all felt bad for leaving him...but he needed his rest). So, of course we went to Cheesecake Factory.

Peyton is 2!

Peyton turned 2-years-old!

We kept asking him who's birthday it is, and he would yell, "Buddy's!" He was so excited. We had his presents and balloons waiting for him for when he woke up. When we went downstairs, all he did was play with the balloons. Eventually he got to the presents. :) He loves this new scooter we got for him. He actually knows how to ride it pretty well! Kylie's excited, too. :)

We ate Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast (thanks for the idea, Stacie) and Peyton's favorite...macaroni and cheese for lunch. Peyton got to choose where we ate dinner. We asked him if he wanted to eat at McDonald's. He firmly said, "No!" We asked him if he wanted to eat at Burger King. He firmly said, "Yes!" So, to Burger King we went and the kids enjoyed playing in the playplace.


We had some friends over to play and to have cake and icecream. Peyton was in heaven with all the friends to play with him at his own house. The kids all had a blast and the parents had fun socializing. Thanks for all the fun and fun gifts!

Signing Time!

We were excited that "Signing Time" was coming to an amphitheater near us. Signing Time is a show on PBS that teaches signs and has fun songs. But the kids love to get their books from the library and listen to the CD's in the car ALL the time. We know all the songs...Silly Pizza Song, Caterpillar Song, Dinner Song, of course the Signing Time Song, etc. But Rachel Coleman (the one who does all the signs) was coming to Vegas...for free. The kids were so excited waiting on the grass for the event to start. They gave them these cute Hopkins hats (the froggie). Then Rachel came out and sang, and the kids just loved it. Well, they got pretty wild because it was past their bedtime, but we all had a fun time. Sorry this last picture didn't turn out, but I was running out of battery and had to take it fast, so obviously it didn't do too well.

Leatherby's

So, we haven't had a lot of news lately, but it seems like all of a sudden we have a lot. So, I'll keep updating it often to inform you what we did so it won't come at you all at once. :)

But, we were driving around town the other night and saw the restaurant Leatherby's. We had heard there was one here in Vegas and were REALLY missing Leatherby's from Utah. So, we were excited to eat it up and chow down the ice cream at this place. We walk in there...oh, first, it's a ghetto bright pink building, and we are the ONLY ones in the restaurant. We order our food, and it was good. Chris, the whole time kept saying that he felt like he was in some sort of movie with how old it felt. He said he felt like he was in the 70s--meaning ghetto 70's. Another time he said he was in the movie, "The Birds." We ordered our ice cream and the lady said we couldn't switch anything up on the menu. For example, we couldn't substitute an ice cream flavor in the sundae. We were like, What?! Anyways, we got it and it tasted like freezer burn...because nobody is there to eat the ice cream. So, needless to say we REALLY missed our Utah Leatherby's. Next time we visit home, we are going there for sure and are really going to enjoy our yummy ice cream. But, I love this picture inside the restaurant just because of all the cute smiles. Oh, funny times. But, the picture doesn't do justice to the restaurant's ghetto-ness. :)
