Monopoly

So, last weekend we got a babysitter and I went with Chris to a charity event for his work. I didn't know anybody, which was not fun, but the whole event was pretty cool. They started off with a silent auction. Chris ended up winning a round of golf for four people and to play with a golf professional. He also won season tickets to UNLV football. Who knows, we might end up UNLV fans?! But we got to keep the spirit in there for Utah and BYU. So those will be fun. We had a nice dinner afterwards and conference on the adoption exchange. Then they had tables set up for games of Monopoly. I didn't get to be on Chris' table, but there was like 8 or so tables of 5 people. I, of course, got set up with 3 major hot heads. The game is a little different (to speed up the play) and you get dealt property cards first. One guy got "dealt" a monopoly right at the beginning so we were all screwed. We had no chance. But, the hot heads just got angry with each other, yelled, screamed, etc. At the end of the game I even heard someone say, "I'm 16th in the nation in Monopoly and this is the worst run event ever." Oh boy!!! Chris can be a hot head at Monopoly when we play at home, but I 100% would have rather played with him. But the whole thing was still fun. At the end of the event, you got a key and it could possibly open 3 treasure chests holding men and women watches (totaled over $1500), a diamond necklace, and front row and backstage passes to Phantom of the Opera. I was so excited to do my key. A couple ladies in front of me, her key opened one. Bummer, I thought. Then my turn....first key, nothing, second key, nothing, third key, strike three! :( Then the kicker was the next 2 ladies behind me opened the last 2 chests. Oh so close!!! So, we had a fun time out and learned new strategies for our Monopoly game at home. :)

When I told Andy about the golf game, he told me to ask Chris when he should come down :). Glad you had a good time!

How FUN. That's a great idea for a work party.... I'm confused on the Monopoly "rankings" in the country. Is that for real?? ha ha I must be completely OUT of the loop. ;o) I suck at Monopoly though, just so you know. You guys might want to play with ME. hee hee I really enjoy it though!! I love board games of any kind, so if you know of any cool, fun ones that we should buy....then share with me!! Oh, and by the way...in case this makes you feel a little better. I went to a work party thing one summer with Jason a long time ago....and everyone was winning cool prizes and awesome gift certificates. Well....I ended up winning a disposable Spongebob camera. Can you believe that?? I was soooo bummed. OH WELL. I guess it just wasn't my day... ha ha

Sorry to comment again, but is your friend Ben Marchant, by any chance, related to Steve Marchant who went to West Point Acadamy in NY?? You'll have to ask, if you don't mind. That's not a really common name, so I'm curious.
